Friends+ Memberships - Terms & Conditions
Please read carefully. Purchasing a Friends+ Membership constitutes acceptance of the below terms and conditions.
Friends+ Membership
1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) apply to the Friends Membership scheme offered by the Theatre. They should be read in conjunction with the Theatre’s general terms and conditions which can be found at https://www.goh.co.uk/terms-conditions (“General Terms”).
1.2 By signing up to a Membership Package and becoming a Member, or by renewing a Friends Membership, Members agree to abide by these Terms and the General Terms.
2. DEFINITIONS
2.1 The following definitions apply in these Terms:
“Box Office” means the Theatre’s box office, located at 2-4 Great Victoria Street, Belfast, BT2 7HR and contactable by phone on 028 9024 1919.
“Friends Membership” means membership of the scheme operated by the Theatre that allows an individual to pay a fee to become a Member and receive Membership Benefits in accordance with the Membership Package they choose.
“Member” means the holder of a Friends Membership.
“Membership Benefits” means the benefits available to the Member under their chosen Membership Package.
“Membership Package(s)” means the different packages offered under the Theatre’s Friends Membership scheme including Under 26s, Bronze, Silver +, Gold + and Platinum +, the details of which can be found on the Friends Membership page.
“Membership Period” means the period of 12 months from the date that the Theatre confirms activation (or renewal) of the Friends Membership via email.
“Theatre” means the Grand Opera House, a charity governed by the Grand Opera House Trust which is registered as a charity with the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland (charity registration number NIC104605) whose address is at 2-4 Great Victoria Street, Belfast, BT2 7HR.
3. MEMBERSHIP ELIGIBILITY AND DURATION
3.1 The Under 26s Membership Package is open to those aged between 16 and 26.
3.2 The Bronze Membership Package is open to those aged 14 and over.
3.3 The Silver +, Gold + and Platinum + Membership Packages are open to those aged 18 and over.
3.4 The Grand Opera House reserves the right to ask for proof of age if required.
3.5 All Membership Packages are valid for a period of 12 months from the date the Theatre confirms activation (or renewal) of the Membership Package via email.
3.6 Membership Packages will not automatically renew.
3.7 All Membership Benefits are for personal use only and are non-transferable. Membership Packages and tickets purchased using Membership Benefits cannot be resold or exchanged for cash.
3.8 Membership Packages are limited to one per customer.
3.9 The Theatre reserves the right to revoke any Membership Package that is purchased by an individual for or on behalf of an organisation.
4. MEMBERSHIP FEES AND PAYMENT
4.1 Membership Packages can be purchased online at goh.co.uk, via phone call to the Box Office on 028 9024 1919 or in person at the Box Office at 2-4 Great Victoria Street, Belfast, BT2 7HR.
4.2 The price of each Membership Package can be found on the Friends Membership Page. All prices include VAT.
4.3 Payment for Membership Packages can be made in cash, or by credit or debit card.
4.4 All Membership Package fees are payable on the date of purchase or renewal.
5. MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS
5.1 Members are entitled to enjoy the Membership Benefits offered under their chosen Membership Package, subject to availability.
5.2 Membership Benefits will be allocated to selected productions at the Theatre’s discretion.
5.3 Membership Benefits can only be accessed by the Member and must be applied at the time of purchase. Membership Benefits cannot be applied to tickets already purchased. Ticket limits will apply on ticket offers including 2 For 1 discounts, and these will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
5.4 Ticket orders can be placed by Members through their online account or via the Box Office.
5.5 A Friends Membership does not guarantee access to tickets at events and/or productions.
5.6 Membership Benefits must be redeemed during the Membership Period. If a Member chooses to renew their Membership, they cannot carry over any Membership Benefits from any previous Membership Period.
5.7 The Theatre reserves the right to rescind any Friends Membership and cancel any booked tickets at any time without refund where any ticket(s) or Membership Benefit(s) have been obtained, transferred or resold in breach of these Terms or the General Terms.
5.8 Proof of entitlement to a Membership Benefit may be requested from the Member at the time of booking and/or when they attend the event. Failure to produce reasonable proof of entitlement to a Membership Benefit may invalidate the ticket and result in refusal of admittance.
6. CANCELLATION AND REFUNDS
6.1 Subject to clause 6.2, Members shall be entitled to cancel their Friends Membership within 14 days of the date it is activated or renewed (the “Cooling Off Period”) and receive a full refund. Members can contact boxoffice@goh.co.uk or call 028 9024 1919 to cancel their Friends Membership in accordance with this clause.
6.2 If Members choose to use any of their Membership Benefits during the Cooling Off Period they are expressly requesting their Membership Benefits to commence during the Cooling Off Period and they shall cease to have the right to cancel their Friends Membership under clause 6.1.
6.3 Other than as set out in clause 6.1 and clause 8.2, the Theatre does not offer any full, partial or pro-rata refunds of Friends Membership fees and the Theatre shall have no liability to Members for any unused Membership Packages.
7. DATA PROTECTION AND PRIVACY
7.1 Details on how the Theatre may use Members’ personal data is set out in the Theatre’s Privacy Policy.
7.2 Members should advise the Box Office if any contact details change during a Membership Period.
8. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
8.1 The Theatre may make changes to these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes to relevant laws or improvements to how the Friends Membership scheme is run.
8.2 If the Theatre makes significant changes that affect Members’ rights or Membership Benefits, it will let Members know in advance (for example by email or by posting a notice on its website). If a Member does not agree with the changes the Member may choose to cancel their Membership Package and receive a pro-rata refund for the remaining term, provided the Member informs the Theatre of this choice within 30 days of being informed of the change.
8.3 Minor changes that do not affect a Member’s rights or core Membership Benefits may be made without prior notice, but the updated Terms will always be available on the Theatre’s website.
9. COMPLAINTS AND QUESTIONS
9.1 Members may contact the Theatre if they have a question or complaint about their experience with purchasing a Membership Package or tickets by emailing boxoffice@goh.co.uk or by phoning 028 9024 1919.
10. GOVERNING LAW AND JURISDICTION
10.1 These Terms are governed by the laws of Northern Ireland.
10.2 Any disputes or claims arising out of these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Northern Ireland however if Members live in England, Wales or Scotland proceedings may also be brought in the country in which the Member lives.
