The Creative Learning team undertakes a wide range of community-based projects, engaging with schools and groups to explore different themes through art and theatre.

Express Yourself
The Grand Opera House believes that creativity should be open to everyone. That's why the Creative Learning team's work extends beyond school-aged children, working with people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.
From large scale productions like the annual Summer Youth Production to one-off workshops, community projects and events, the Theatre aims to use a diverse range of art-forms to inspire, engage and grow the curious minds of children and adults across the community.

Mid Term Youth Production
The Grand Opera House has created a special project for young people aged 10-15 years old, taking place in The Studio from Saturday 25 October - Saturday 1 November 2025.
2025's production title is Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical, JR. Book your place now.

Summer Youth Production
The Summer Youth Production is a long-running tradition that sees young people from all backgrounds take part in a large scale, professional-standard production on the Theatre's main stage.
2026's production title is Chitty Chitty Bang Bang - open to 10 to 18-year-olds with audition registration opening in November. More information to be announced very soon.
