Northern Ireland’s biggest youth theatre production is back and offering young people aged 10 to 18 the chance to star on the iconic Grand Opera House stage in a musical theatre experience like no other.
Supported by a professional creative, production and technical team, the Theatre’s Summer Youth Production is a fully staged, costumed and choreographed musical, accompanied by a live orchestra.
From those stepping on stage for the first time to aspiring theatre stars, budding performers will have the opportunity to take centre stage in this magical musical production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang inspired by the classic family film and children’s book. No previous acting or singing experience is required but enthusiasm, commitment and a love of performing are essential.
Whether you dream of playing Caractacus Potts, Truly Scrumptious, Jeremy or Jemima Potts, or hope to dazzle as part of a vibrant ensemble in unforgettable numbers like Toot Sweets, Hushabye Mountain and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, now is the time to register for your chance to shine in this truly scrumptious production flying on to the Grand Opera House stage in July 2026.

Production Dates
Rehearsals will run from Saturday 4 July to Saturday 18 July 2026 inclusive with performances from Thursday 16 July to Saturday 18 July 2026. Cast members must be available to attend every day within this period.
Additional rehearsals for the principal cast only will also take place from Friday 26 June to Monday 29 June 2026.
Auditions
First stage open auditions will take place on Sunday 8 February 2026 at the Grand Opera House, with recall auditions on Sunday 22 February 2026.
Due to the demands of auditioning large numbers, it is not possible to accommodate auditions at any other time. The Creative Team is not accepting video recordings for auditions; all applicants must attend auditions in person.
How to Register
To register for auditions, please complete the online registration form here.
Applicants must upload a recent, unfiltered, passport sized photograph with their application for use on audition day. To take part you must be aged 10-18-years-old for the production duration.
The closing date to register for auditions is Friday 23 January 2026, 5.30pm. More information about auditions will be circulated once registration closes.
Costs
There is no cost to audition.
The cost to participate in the Summer Youth Production is £250 per person. 50% of the fee is required as a non-refundable deposit after the auditions are completed. The remaining balance can be paid off in instalments no later than Thursday 28 May 2026.
