The Summer Youth Production is a long-running tradition that sees young people from all backgrounds take part in large scale, professional-standard productions on the Theatre's main stage.
Sunset Boulevard
From the team that staged Oliver! in 2023, the Grand Opera House Summer Youth Production returns in July 2024 with Andrew Lloyd Webber’s award-winning masterpiece Sunset Boulevard. A journey into dreams and desire in the land called Hollywood, this production includes the lush, swelling numbers The Perfect Year, With One Look and The Greatest Star of All. The project will run from Saturday 6 to Saturday 20 July 2024 inclusive.
Take Part
Sunset Boulevard is open to all 16-21-year-olds from across Northern Ireland. No previous experience is necessary.
Audition for the Cast
Calling all aspiring young performers, whether you're an actor, singer or dancer there's a place for you to shine in the Summer Youth Production.
Performances will take place on Thursday 18, July at 7pm, Friday 19 July at 7pm and Saturday 20 July 2024 at 2pm & 7pm.
Auditions
First stage open auditions will take place on Saturday 22 March 2025 at St Mary Magdalene Parish Church, Donegall Pass, Belfast BT7 1BU.
Call back auditions will take place in the Grand Opera House on the following day, Sunday 23 March 2025.
Due to the demands of auditioning large numbers, it is not possible to accommodate auditions at any other time.
Theclosing date to register for auditions has now passed.
Costs
The cost to participate is £250 per person, 50% of the fee is required as a non-refundable deposit after the auditions are completed and the remaining balance to be paid no later than Friday 24 May 2025.
Youth Tech Crew
There is also an opportunity for young people aged 16 to 21 years old to be a member of the Youth Tech Crew and work alongside the Grand Opera House technical team. If you would like to be part of this team, please complete the Youth Tech Crew Registration form and we will contact you regarding an interview in April 2025.
The closing date for applications for the Youth Tech Crew is Friday 28 March 2025.
Under 16s
If you are below the age of 16 and not eligible to apply for GREASE don’t worry, the Grand Opera House will run a youth project for those aged 10-15 years old in the autumn of 2025. Please keep an eye on our social media platforms for further details later in the year.
