Josh Blair was never any good at team sports, that is until he joins Validus Grammar and goes along for a rugby training session and he is hooked!
After four years of school rugby the medallion squad are through to the semi-finals of the Medallion Shield, but in the last few minutes of the game, something is not right, Josh is unsure about going back on, but his team needs him, his school needs him, he needs this.
Josh takes up his position on the pitch and stands in line, under the lights...
Under The Lights is a play about a young boy's drive to succeed in his chosen sport - rugby. A fast-paced one-man show that examines the popular culture of team sport, the sacrifices young athletes make to rise to the top and the pressure they put on themselves to get there while navigating mental and physical challenges.
Under The Lights is for anyone who believes that one day their dream in life just might come true.

John Travers
Josh Blair-
“Connolly's portrait - funny, fresh and admirably free from any suspicion of sermonising - celebrates the rugby convert's new-found enthusiasm before providing a clarion note of caution about the dangers of the game's bone-crunching reality and the damage inflicted on the brain from serious collisions”
-
“John Travers engrosses the audience with his word-perfect delivery of the vibrant script. At times the dialogue spews out of his mouth like a high-pressure hose.”
-
“An absolute tour de force.”
-
“Beautifully moving, funny - one of my favourite pieces of theatre I have ever seen.'”
