Glen Hansard

One of Ireland’s most iconic singer songwriters, Glen Hansard, returns to Belfast for a special performance as part of the 2019 Belfast International Arts Festival.

DUE TO PHENOMENAL DEMAND AN EXTRA DATE 22 OCTOBER HAS BEEN ADDED. TICKETS GO ONSALE FRIDAY 21 JUNE AT 9AM!

Set to be a concert for the ages, singer songwriter Glen Hansard and his band return to Belfast for a special sit-down performance in the majestic surroundings of The Grand Opera House, marking the opening of his European tour.

From his time as lead singer of Irish stalwarts The Frames, one half of folk-rock duo The Swell Season, starring in the critically acclaimed, award-winning films The Commitments and Once through to his recently released fourth solo album, This Wild Willing, an artist of Hansard’s stature needs no introduction.

Throughout this extraordinary evening, the audience can expect a journey through Hansard’s musicianship. Rock and folk ambitions coexist with moments of strangeness, intimacy, and stillness. Topics of vulnerability, desire, chaos, joy and love are explored in Hansard’s trademark soaring emotional and dynamic shifts.

For anyone who hasn’t seen Hansard perform live, he channels absolutely everything into his performance. Don’t miss it!

Support act to be announced. Part of the 57th Belfast International Arts Festival.
