The Grand Opera House, in partnership with Freefall Dance Company, will be hosting a participatory CPD Workshop for dance facilitators on Friday 28 February 2020. Freefall Dance Company are Birmingham Royal Ballet’s long-running performance company for people with learning disabilities.


The day aims to broaden dance facilitators’ experience and further their confidence in working with people with a learning disability. It will include facilitated conversations; exploring Freefall’s methodology, and a chance to participate in a practical workshop led by Freefall staff and dancers. The company plan to share their processes and practice, and their approach to dovetailing the principles of community dance and classical ballet.


10.30-12.00 | Introductions, background and context, Freefall approach and methodology.

12.00-13.00 | Lunch

13.00-16.00 | Practical session with company dancers


Participants should bring their own lunch and refreshments, and wear clothing suitable for movement.
