Threshold of the Unseen: The Death of Dr Crawford - Talk accompanied by live music
Thursday 29 June | 11 - 1pm
Tickets £5
Tea/Coffee will be served from 10.30am and event will commence at 11am

On July 31st, 1920, a body was found lying on the rocks at the Girls Home, Bangor.Dr W.J. Crawford, Emeritus Professor at Queen's University, had taken more cyanide than was good for him. But what had brought him to that point?

It is a fascinating story of spiritualism, fraud, and obsession that involves three of Edwardian Ireland's most-adventurous scientists, an unverified number of spirits, and one precocious young woman: Kathleen Goligher was 16 years old when she first met Dr Crawford, she spent four years as the object of an intense study that gradually moved away from the accepted protocols of science into something quite different. Reggie Chamberlain-King Press and an ensemble of musicians lead you through the professor's experiments and psyche to the threshold of the unseen.

A darkly entertaining way to spend a Thursday morning!Reggie is a Belfast based writer and broadcaster. He is best known for his book Weird Belfast which tackles the obscure, the peculiar and the uncanny found right on our own doorstep. Reggie Chamberlain-King is also creative producer of the Wireless Mystery Theatre and has worked on many projects with the BBC and with numerous arts organisations.

To book for this event please ring the Box Office on 028 9024 1919.
