The Grand Opera House Summer Youth Production returns in July 2019 for its ninth year with not just one but two unmissable productions – Miss Saigon® School Edition (for 16-18 year olds) and Bugsy Malone (for 10-18 year olds).
Bugsy Malone is open to 10-18 year olds. This project will run from Sunday 21 July to Saturday 3 August 2019 inclusive. Successful cast members must be available to attend every day. Additional rehearsals will also take place on Sunday 23 June 2019 for principals. Young people aged 16-18 years of age can apply to take part in both productions.
The cost to participate is £200 per person, 50% of the fee is required as a non-refundable deposit after the auditions are completed and the remaining balance no later than Friday 31 May 2019. A 10% discount is available for multiple siblings involved in each project.
First stage auditions for Bugsy Malone will take place on Sunday 10 February 2019. Call back auditions for both productions will take place on Saturday 16 & Sunday 17 February 2019. Due to the demands of auditioning large numbers it is not possible to accommodate auditions at any other time. Registration for this production has now closed.
Performance Licences: this applies to children under 16 years of age only. If your child is under 16 years of age and not yet completed their GCSEs and auditioning for Bugsy Malone it is a legal requirement to have a performance licence. You must complete the Performance Licence Application section on the registration form. Two recent passport sized photographs and evidence of your child’s date of birth are mandatory for a performance licence application. Please return these with your registration form.
Youth Tech Crew
During the summer youth productions there is an opportunity for young people aged 16 to 18 years old to be a member of our youth tech crew for each production. If you would like to be part of this team please download and complete the Youth Tech Crew Application Form. Please return the registration form by Friday 1 March 2019. Interviews for these roles will take place after the cast auditions are completed. The cost to be a member of the youth tech team is £200 per person, per production.
A limited number will be available to those who have not been in receipt of a bursary in any of the previous projects. Further information about bursaries will be available after the casting process is completed.
