This is a non-professional production brought to you by New Lyric Operatic Company
From the producers of White Christmas and West Side Story, New Lyric Operatic Company is proud to present High Society. Curtain up for the wedding of the year in 1938 as New York socialite Tracy Lord anticipates her second round of nuptials to a high flying executive. She’s the talk of the town and the who’s who of society are attending, nothing could be better, except for the news that her ex-husband is back and two incognito tabloid reporters are at her heels to print any juicy gossip on her big day. As Tracy edges closer to her wedding day and past family secrets come to the fore, how will she keep her cool? and who will she decide is the man for her?
Based on an adaptation of the Philadelphia Story and the 1956 film High Society; the Broadway and West End acclaimed show is a flirtatious tale of love, scandal and glamour, boasting Cole Porter classics - ‘Well Did you Evah?’, ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire?’ and the ballad ‘True Love.’ Directed by Kieran Griffiths, Choreographed by Wendy Mairs and with Musical Direction by Mr Wilson Shields New Lyric will surely be hosting a swell party on the Grand Opera House stage this spring.
