English Youth Ballet presents this beautiful and spellbinding production of The Sleeping Beauty for the company’s first visit to Belfast – sumptuous and scintillating, promising tradition alongside innovation, including 280 sparkling costumes designed by Keith Bish and impressionist sets by Sebastian Petit, with Amy Drew and Adeline Kaiser alternating the role of Aurora and Oliver Speers and Brenden Bratulic dancing the role of the Prince.
The policy of the English Youth Ballet is to perform full length productions of classical ballet in the regional theatres of the UK, and to give young dancers an opportunity to perform in a classical ballet within a professional setting. 112 male and female dancers from Northern Ireland were chosen to take part in The Sleeping Beauty and these young stars will take to the stage alongside seven professional dancers formerly from companies including the San Francisco Ballet, English National Ballet, Ballet Ireland and Northern Ballet Theatre to bring this enchanting story to life.
“I don’t think myself capable of finding the right words to describe how utterly stunning the performance was” – Lynn News, 2014
“The level to which they performed was incredible. A fantastically choreographed spectacle.” – York Press, 2013
