Postcards from Dumbworld

This unique opera by Brian Irvine (2006 British Composers Award for best new opera) and writer/director John McIlduff brings together ten individually selected opera singers from around the world with the award-winning twelve piece Brian Irvine Ensemble.

Poignant, comic and inspiring, Postcards from Dumbworld follows the journey of several interconnected individuals - their hopes, aspirations, magnetic oddness and fragile beauty.

Described in the composer’s own words as a ‘kind of Barry’s Amusements Peep Hole Theatre’ - it is a world that is at once surreal and familiar; fuelled by dreams and a quest for the moment when things make sense.
